STEP 5 ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROME.

The ECSC was a significant success, a tacit political revolution. It proved that integration could bring working unity in Europe, that supranational experiment is compatible with national interest, that nation states were able to run and control the new mechanism of interaction. Although important, it was just a first step on the long road to unification.
