Step Three: from culture to cultural diversity

Culture is not homogenous. Subcultures can be identified within each culture (groups of people with distinctive sets of practices and behaviours). At the same time, as individuals, we belong to different social groups (see the following figure) whose culture impregnates us. This is part of our identity.
