Founded in May 1997, the Centre for European Studies (CES) under Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), which has its own offices and considerably rich research material, is an independent
institute directly under the leadership of the university. It has a director concurrently held by a director and a secretary. It has 3 fulltime researchers and more than 20 part-time researchers.
CES has 30 master students and 22 doctor candidates on European Studies under the guidance of 13 master tutors and 3 PhD tutors.
Main functions
The main functions of the CES are: administrating and coordinating the affairs concerning European studies within the university, including planning research projects, setting up curriculums, organizing academic conferences, conducting academic exchanges in EU studies at home and abroad, sponsoring personnel and professional trainings, carrying out social services.
