Step 4. Image of Europe

As we discussed in Unit 1, Europe is perceived in a variety of ways: physical, through its geography and natural boundaries, cultural, through its ideas, art, culture, symbols and meanings, as well as political, as a union of member states and an actor in international relations, having its own legal and institutional framework, policies, agencies and representatives. Here, we will focus on the image of Europe: how is Europe perceived by others? How does it present its image to its own citizens and to the world?
